279. Indian!

I got invited to join "Kate & Co" for some Indian food at Agra restaurant over at Lillestrøm.
To celebrate Magnar being a "young scientist"

My honest review for that place?
It was effing fantastic!

I usually have very high expectations for Indian and Chinese food because, I like my Indian and Chinese to resemble those I taste back home in Malaysia.
And the ones in Norway usually don't taste as great.

But Agra is insane! Insanely good.
I am going to go as far as saying that it was probably one of the best Indian food I have ever tasted!

Unfortunately, we were being proper and didn't actually take any pictures.
But that just means, we could just use our imagination instead?

Anyways, completely recommended!

219. Café updates!

Its been such a long time since the last Café Run, figured I updated that tab bar :)

This was Food Story,
Somewhere in Birkelunden.

Honestly I thought the brownie was mediocre. The Cocoa was good though!
Very nice ambience, weird location, but not exactly one that I would recommend.

There is a bit of a funny story behind this Café trip. Basically, the four of us. Jens, Rona, Marius and I was supposed to attend a concert in Oslo. But because of some "error in planning" *cough my error cough*

We went all the way to Oslo only to find out that tickets were sold out! :(
Typical isn't it.

So there we were in Oslo with nothing else to do.

145. Pictures

Retard picture! :)

Oh, don't I just look excited!

:)

Okay, back to my ranting session. I should name this blog "Come and rant with me" instead sometime.
Today was my uncle's birthday, and he turned... 29 (so he claims)

So, For this to be his birthday it isn't very "happening" at all. Right now all of us are sitting in the hall watching some norwegian comedy, Karl & Co. which isn't very funny at all if you ask me, but my uncle absolutely loves it. Guess it is the old people's humor.

And since it is his birthday, he does get the Veto vote! :)

Earlier today for his Birthday, we all headed out to Egon, Lillestrøm for some dinner and drinks and to put it nicely and simply, the food blatantly sucks.
Absolutely totally most definitely not recommended at all.

Can't get over the clarity, honey.

So, yeah. That was my day today. :)
How has yours been?

Music plug for today : Coeur de Pirate

I recommend Comme des enfants and Francis.
How can you resist her French charm right? <3

024. Rebound

Summertime

Cafe's visited lately.

Boy and I have been to a couple more cafe's lately, and here are some that are worth mentioning.

I wonder if I keep this up for another... 2 years, would I eventually generate enough publicity to be able to get my coffee breaks funded by Google or Nuffnang :)

Right now it really seems like Google Adsense is the one generating most money compared to Nuffnang ads. Wicked.

Åpent Bakeri

I think you would definitely hear me talk about this cafe a little bit. It has to be one of the better cafe's that I have visited. It is situated at the end of the Kongens Parken, right opposite Jan Thomas's Studio in Parkveien. It is really hard to miss if your going that general direction. Boy and I just happen to stumble upon it while he was going to pick up his bike from the bike store in Oslo.

*(Which would be my next rant some other time, the "other" side of Oslo, not known but offers amazing things. They have got Oasis, Coast and Warehouse all in one row-ish!)

Anyways, back to Åpent Bakeri. The entire bakery has got glass windows and walls, and therefore the name. Åpent (Open). D-oh :). They have got some of the best Hot Chocolate yet, and the prices were not that outrageous.

I paid (I think) 28 NOK for a cup of Hot Chocolate and what's awesome about it is that I think this has to be the first time in Norway that the Hot Chocolate was one that was made out of melted chunks of dark cocoa on a warm foamy milky mixture. Namnammy.

And, you cannot help but to notice the ever famous Studio opposite you, and maybe if your in luck, you could also get a glance some famous people getting their hair fixed or even better you get to see famous people with horrible hair day, so we all know they are humans too. Maybe the King goes there too, whatdoyouthink? :)

Kafe Brenneriet (?), Aker Brygge

The ever famous Kafé Brenneriet. To be honest, it was just so-so for my cup of cocoa, wasn't like over the top good or anything to be honest, though one of the better cups I have had, that I have to admit.

And as I was saying, I think my standards are getting too high and I am starting to expect a bit too much. Is that a bad thing? :)

Though, with that being said. It could also perhaps be because I was sitting right next to the toilet, and therefore part of the time I was sitting hoping, wishing no one opens the toilet door so it hits me right in my back, so my judgement of this could be slightly biased and therefore unfair. Heh.

Pikene på hjørnet, Lillestrøm

I have yet to try out the 'sister café', Pikene på torvet. This one is by the train station, on the other side of Lillestrøm.

Lets make this short : If ever you are there, order their brownie!

Its so effing good. Warm brownie with a scoop of cold vanilla ice-cream on the side, its so good. What more can you want?

Have I mentioned how good it was already? :)

Might be slightly on the pricey-er side, 49 NOK (or something about that) for a small piece of brownie and one scoop of vanilla ice cream but absolutely worth every cent. Pure indulgence. Namnammy.

Right, that was about it I guess, I think I shall leave out the bar we visited with Sharanna and Robin and Thomas since I did not have any coffee there and all I did was sit in freezing cold weather.

**Ignore the previous post, it was written out of instinct and has absolutely no value what-so-ever. Not like this is going to be any different but here are some questions I ponder about in the past 5 minutes. Feel free to answer them if you have any smart guesses or educated guesses. And please, don't harp on the whole "Google it" thinggymajig. If I had internet, I would have done that long ago. :)

Question 1 : Have you watched the Miss California USA's answer to Perez Hilton's question?, what did you think? *coughidiotcough*

Question 2 : What is a Packet Data?, and do I want it for my phone?

Question 3 : Where is all the Malaysian bloggers hate site disappear too?

Question 4 : Why did I not follow the Pirate Bay story closer?

Question 5 : Boy, when can I play with my Spore game again?

Question 6 : What happened to all the hyped up-ed stories of last year, like Madeline McCain, and Josef Fritzl and etc. Why nothing on the news anymore?

Question 7 : Why is Math so useless to me?, why am I so hopeless in Math today? (Pfft, like that doesn't happen everyday). Sines and cosines are just confusing.

Question 8 : Why is there a age limit to enter some restaurants and pubs on weekends?, 'Younger people' need to have a drink too you know!

Question 9 : Should I just go to sleep already?

Bah, sleep first. Last question answered...

***Ironic how I am also typing this from Garcon with Boy. They now put up some new gazebo things so you can sit outside and soak up the sun :)

Flowers.

013. Café People

Iced Mocha (...) and Mocha (...)

What have I said before about the fact that it was just the blogger bug that has been biting me, updates are starting to get mellow. I think there are possibly 2 factors that is causing this.
  1. Life is simply getting busier and busier everyday.
  2. There is no more fun camera´s to play with so I can take ridiculously clear and focused pictures.
Anyways, just to keep my blog alive. Here is something I plan to do in a short while. Since a certain Boy and I share the liking of going to cafés (or we are always slightly bored)
Lately, we are into the whole idea of "independent cafes", I suppose we would bump into a few more along the course of the next few weeks.

*Just to clarify, independent meaning. Not where we go everyday/often. It also should not be some mainstream cafés, with MANY exception due to the fact that Norway always have chains of the same cafés anyways. Just like Starbucks I suppose.

I was thinking I could soon write about some absolutely awesome cafés around Lillestrøm and Oslo or those worth talking and recommending too.

Yesterday it was "the first café that we see after 3 blocks, regardless if it is nice or not" and we happen to stumble upon Stockfleths (spelling questionable) just about one street down ever famous Karl Johan.

After my horrible, and I mean horrible experience with Iced/Blended Coffee´s in Norway. This one was acceptable. Not in any way great or in any comparison to Starbucks.
This was again acceptable. :)

If ever you are a fan of tea, you should most definitely come here to try their Chai Latte. Not that I know what it tastes like, but you get to see the woman behind the counter "preform" a sort of "pulling" motion with her tea. In Malaysia, its almost like the drink Teh Tarik. Just ask my best friend Google, if you really want to know.

The location of this place is slightly harder to find, but just know "3 blocks down Karl Johan, first right from Østbanehallen" :) You can also get the same chain of coffee over at Oslo City.
Oh, another thing about this place is that, because of the size of the place, you could smell all the new freshly brewed coffee and tea. *Yummmm

One place one should never. I repeat, never. Try the Ice-Coffee from Ritazza in Gardermoen Airport. It was been almost half a year since that "incident" and I remember every bit of the horrible taste of what I thought water from left over beans of coffee scraped off the bottom of the pots and pans coffee. Yuck. Oh, if that is not bad enough it was really expensive!

I suppose in their defense, at most times the taste and quality is variable with the person making it. So, one should not be too critical I suppose.

Vanity

*It was such nice weather today. I hope this last till after the IB exams! Makes my mood so much better and therefore, a happier me!. Ever stopped and notice, how weather has so much influence on ones mood? Or maybe it is just me...

Lets just pretend this was "artistic" :)

**All that advertorials in my blog is starting to generate revenue! Who would have known...
I am now, a whole 50øre richer! Oh my! 50 øre! :) I can now go get... quarter a breath of fresh air in Norway. Would that be enough?
