201. Music Plug

I am starting to wonder if my Music Plugs are actually worthwhile afterall. Haha!
But I enjoy having them on my blog, so I think I am going to continue with it for a while :)

Lenka, Gravity Rides Everything

So, in terms of update. I actually spent today with Magnar's mum + her sister + her friend.
Ignore how weird that sounded, it was actually really fun.
If you ever met her, you'll know she is quite the laid back cool kind
Oh, with loads of proverbs I honestly think are made up by the Scots and not used anywhere else, but she doesn't always get that. And thus I don't always get her.

It was an absolute random meet up, to a quick coffee break, to grocery shopping, to pizza making.

All because my excellent friends have prior plans though they did plan to meet up. Or in other words, I was ditched in some way by Marius and Torbjørn. And Magnar was up in the mountains somewhere skiing. Haha!

Pfft! So yeah that was my day. Torbjørn did make up for it later though, by meeting me and buying me Green Tea!

Another random note : Magnars dad called me from India today, very... strange to say the least. He was in a saree shop in India and wondered what saree I wanted as they had a million different kinds or something.

I was partly kidding when he asked me what I wanted from India the other day, because who ever takes me seriously?

How can they not be any more random but awesome?

200. End of January!

*Scratch catching the train to meet Torbjørn on time, I blame my black pumps. They are not make for walking or running in my case.

Can you believe January is already coming to an end? Remember my Resolution '10 for January?
So, its the end of the month, and as promised time for my personal evaluation!

1. Swear less or none at all
I would like to think this was a complete success. I swear so much lesser, and when I do it, I actually notice it, thus prompting me to stop. Hopefully I'll just continue swearing less and less.

2. Be dressed better
Definitely a success. I actually know what to wear everyday. Or in other words, I put on things that make me feel better. Costing me alot more money as well though.

3. Make some new friends
One day I'll introduce you to Stian and Robin! Really awesome folks!

4. Get myself a new schedule book
Checked. Followed and stick to everything I write in it. I still procrastinate a bit sometimes, but it's getting better!

5. Spend more quality time with Munchkin not quantity
We have been so busy lately, we haven't actually had much time so to do much. But the times we do spent together are completely amazing. So I guess, this was kind of a success too?

6. Read read read read read more.
I read, The Piano Teacher by Elfiede Jelinek (?) and The Dark Room by I forgot. Guess on this one I could do better. But I truly have been so busy with everything else!

7. Lead a healthier lifestyle.
How does one judge the success rate on this one?

8. Take up some winter sport activities.
Enough said?

9. Stop being so paranoid and think less.
I have been really happy the past month. I have made decisions that I thought carefully about and they are decisions I choose to stick by.

10. Live
Refer to point 9 : I have been happy. And isn't that what life is really all about?

Time to make some new resolutions for next month later today!

199. Cheongsam!

I had a quick Skype session with my mum yesterday and probably the only important thing she said to me was "I already ordered your Cheongsam, you better not put on weight" *Super sigh.

I had my measurements taken last June. And like most traditional costumes I think they are made to fit. So, I can only hope for the best! My mum is not coming here till June the 22nd anyways. So I do have some time to get myself toned up!

I remembered specifically, being extremely picky at the tailor and wanted it made with proper silk, with a large slit on the sides, definitely knee length, red colour with black hooks, a cut on the top with a slid, the list went on and on and on. Haha!

In case you don't know what a Cheongsam is, it is the traditional Chinese costume. And let me introduce you to my best friend, Google. He shall help you with the rest. www.google.com (incase you haven't met him before)

So, now that is done. I have only a few more traditional clothes I need to get. The Malay Kebaya is definitely next on the list. I also got my measurements colour choices and what nots taken for this one, now its just up to my mummy to go get it done and I am sure she will get it done before she comes here in a few months. My mummy is kinda cool like that sometimes :)

Final note : I woke up today with some takers on my Cartoonize Me "competition". Its so cute and awesome! All the random people sending me their pictures, Haha! :D

Sorry for the lousy posts, I got to go to Torbjørn organized FrP propaganda meet at the Skedsmo Rådhus about ... now.

189. Music Plug

Bøøøøøø!

Owl City, The Saltwater Room
Today's favorite song. Maybe.

Owl City is more famous for their Fireflies song. Well, at least that is what I think. :)
If you live in Norway, you would have heard the firefly song probably 100 times repeatedly over the radio. I hate when radios overplay songs!

I don't see why they don't play The Saltwater Room more often, its so much better!

188. Cartoonize me.

I think I am quite a cute cartoon character.
Well, I am already naturally cartoon-ny. :)

Share with me your cartoon shots too if you are a user of the Photobooth effects! I want to see them!
Lets create a revolution baby! Use Photoshop if you want to really. :)
Comeon' get snapping!

Okay, so I have decided to make this a bit of a competition.
Winner gets a new H&M scarf, courtesy of me. And i'll even ship it to you wherever you are. :)
Mail me pictures if you want to. Orlyandsa@gmail.com
I'll pick a winner on the 2nd of February :)

187. Steps to feeling beautiful

I got on the scale for the first time since before Christmas, yesterday.
And, of course to my complete horror I added a few pounds over the months.
I was horrified and quite disgusted at myself for allowing me to get this way.

Well, to make things short. I hate self pitying (any form of it) so, I do what I do best, make myself feel better. You can only make others feel better when you yourself feel good.

And I think my steps work wonderfully each and every time for me. Maybe it'll work for you too?

So whenever I am feeling a bit down for whatever reason. This are the things I do.

1. Wash your hair, blow dry, treat it.
2. Take a long shower. I think there is something really therapeutic about standing and washing away everything. Every dirt and every grime (metaphorically speaking and literally, unfortunately it doesn't wash pounds away though. :P)
3. Give yourself a mini facial. I find something really calming about a tight clean skin.
4. Get dolled up! Make yourself feel good. Pick out something funny and funky. Play with colours.
If you go around in sweats and baggy clothes feeling sorry for yourself, what do you think that makes you feel inside?
5. Surround yourself with people who are worth your time. People who makes you feel like a million dollar. People who would think you are beautiful regardless.
6. Know that every bad day eventually ends. And you'll just come out of it a better cleaner person! :)

186. Music Plug

It is all about balance baby, balance.

She Moves In Her Own Way, The Kooks.

I got to figure out what my favorite bands are! Because I was just about to say The Kooks were probably one of my favorite bands yet, but then I thought that is not completely true as I also love Belle&Sebastian, Glasvegas, Paolo Nutini, Travis, Goo Goo Dolls, The Postal Service, The Strokes, Rooney, Nadasurf, The Fratellis, Micheal Bublé and the list just goes on and on and on.

Anyways, the point being, if you are into the whole British Indie Rock/Pop thing, The Kooks is awesome! Check them out. :)

None of my favorite bands are touring this season. They are all where it is warm and sunny, down under. *giggle, capital wtf?

Anyways, blog later lovelies.

185. Saturday out in Oslo

This is a funny picture, since I can barely skate and I couldn't stop!
It was either I choose to fall on the ground or grabbed hold onto a random dude.
Obviously I chose..

Yesterday was actually kind of awesome. It was a bit of an impromptu date with Magnarboy. :)
Basically, it first involved some ice skating in Oslo, some warm Hot Chocolate at Mövenpick, walkabouts and a great great time.

Funny, how I remembered when I was younger, I saw dates like this in the movie and wondered if I would ever be lucky enough to actually be able to do them too, and now I have.
And, lucky for me too, I brought along an amazing company.

I really liked the pictures, I wish Magnar would tell me beforehand that he was going to bring along the camera! Then I could "beautify" myself first! Hrmph.

Then, we met up with Torbjørn and Marius later, and had some kebab and McDonalds!
By the time I was home, I was absolutely knackered from the days event. But I loved every minute of it!

Magnar is sometimes quite right, events less planned is sometimes the best kind :)

184. Music Plug

So you know there are times when you hear that song over the radio, and go "Hrm... that is quite a good song" You know the artist, and you tell yourself, I am so going to add that to my New Likes, Spotify playlist when I get home.

Then you forget about all about it till you go home, then there you are on your computer, trying to find the song you tried looking for it, but you cannot remember anything about it! Except, the a word and how to hum it out.

huuuuummm, hum, huuuum, hum hum hum.
Sad, google doesnt work that way. Haha!

That was me, yesterday. In search for this.

John Mayer, No Such Thing.

"Welcome to the real world", she said to me
Condescendingly
Take a seat
Take your life
Plot it out in black and white
Well I never lived the dreams of the prom kings
And the drama queens
I'd like to think the best of me
Is still hiding
Up my sleeve

They love to tell you
Stay inside the lines
That something's better
On the other side

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
just a lie you've got to rise above

So the good boys and girls take the so called right track
Faded white hats
Grabbing credits
Maybe transfers
They read all the books but they can't find the answers
And all of our parents
They're getting older
I wonder if they've wished for anything better
While in their memories
Tiny tragedies

They love to tell you
Stay inside the lines
But something's better
On the other side

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you got to rise above

I am invincible (x3)
As long as I'm alive

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you've got to rise above

I just can't wait til my 10 year reunion
I'm gonna bust down the double doors
And when I stand on these tables before you
You will know what all this time was for

183. Potato Potato

This is possibly the dance where Johanne said to me afterwards how much fun it is to dance with Magnars dad because he really spins you around and you feeling like flying. (Something around those lines?)
Cheap thrills. Haha! :)

What's the song you tune into when you are feeling down?
I think I should compile a few more playlists based on music and mood.

I know when I am feeling really sad/moody/confused and what not. And (off the top my head) these songs, doesnt exactly make it better but I listen to it anyways. One is allowed to wallow when needed, no?

Paolo Nutini, Last Request

Delayed Devotion, Duffy

I am sure there are a few more, but I cant seem to remember what they were!
What songs do you tune into when you are feeling a bit down?

*No, I am not feeling down or anything. I am kinda happy today actually. Haha!
Last Request was just playing and I remembered how I use to listen to it a lot when I was in Sweden with Sharanna! Kinda funny story really. Keep that for another day.

182. First day!

Of University! Last time I was in College.

Today was my first day ever, and as of now I love it. I seriously thrive on productivity :) Brain stimulation is always great.

I am still a bit sad that I cannot take all the courses I wanted too because they clash with another course I want just as bad. But I think I am doing all I can right now. So I shouldn't be too hard on myself?

I havent fully decided what I am doing this semester except Latin, because I love it. For now.
Strange, seeing I don't understand one bit. But neither did anyone else in that class (sort of).

The teacher/lecturer/professor was really nice and understanding towards the new Latin takers because it is so true what she said "There will be people who are good in Latin from before, and people who knows nothing from before, but think of it, if they were really that good, do you think they would be in the basic beginners class when there are 3 other levels?" :)

So yay. I got some homework today too. Just basic translation only I dont have a dictionary to help me. So, internet world, please be nice to me.

I got to go do some work now, will update later.
I am sorry I haven't been updating anything much except basic daily rants. But I have been really busy lately. Only blog post I have left drafted and not posted, is the one I wrote for Magnarboy. :)

Yes, basically. I am a bit happier now then I was in my previous school. :)

181. Music Plug

Cakes! *sigh. So good, yet so... good.

I made that! With Johanne! :)
Okay made is an over-rated term. I ensemble is more like it. But shhh! No one needs to know. :)

I got this from Rohini's Facebook :) Figured I shared it.
I love it when covers are made with originality and puts a different take on the song instead of just literally "re-singing?" it. Because if I wanted a re-singing, I would Youtube Nichole337. :)

Anyways, A very interesting rendition of The Killers, When You Were Young by The Noisettes

Anyways lovelies, I got to go to my first class in a really really really long time. I wonder if I had any brain cells left really.

And if you have not followed my Twitter, my first class after all these time is... LATIN.
*Stop sniggering you. :)

180. Pictures

Does pretty picture make you want to come back to my blog? :)
Your presence, pays for my domain name, literally. So do come back! Haha!

Wait, I changed my mind.
The pictures are so huge it takes forever to upload. So, I'll do it some other time.
Hahaaaa?

I love those pictures. The dudes are always so cute!
Pictures from Magnar's parents wedding anniversary by the way.

I can definitely pull of the whole bitchy look. Haha!

Dancing people.

Okay, I blog later. Got to get some things sorted out first.

179. Music Plug

Probably one of the mushy-est song for today.
Reasons why I love the iPod, because it plays songs you forgot!

"I see lovers in the streets walking,

without a care.
They're wearing out loud
like there's something in the air
Oooooh, and i don't care

They're treading lightly
No they, don't sink in
There's no tracks to follow
they don't care where they going
hmm

And if they're lucky and they'll,
they'll get to see and if they're
really really lucky they'll
get to feel..

And it kicks so hard,
it breaks your bones.
Cuts so deep
it hits your soul.
Tears your skin and
makes your blood flow.
It's better that you know,
That love is hard.

Love takes hostages,
gives them pain.
gives someone the power to
hurt you again and again
oooh, but they don't care

And if they're lucky and they'll,
they'll get to see and if they're
really really lucky they'll
they'll get to feel.
And if they're, they're truly blessed
and they're get to believe
and if you're dammed, you'll never
let yourself be diseased.

And it kicks so hard,
it breaks your bones.
Cuts so deep
it hits your soul.
Tears your skin and
makes your blood flow.
It's better that you know,
That love is hard.

Hmmmmmmm...

Kicks so hard,
it breaks your bones.
Cuts so deep
it hits your soul.
Tears your skin and
makes your blood flow.
It's better that we know..

And it kicks so hard,
it breaks your bones.
Cuts so deep
it hits your soul.
Tears your skin and
And makes your blood flow.
It's better that you know,
That love is hard..

love is hard, love is hard.

If it was easy,
it wouldn't mean nothing tough."

-Love is hard, James Morrison <3

178. Sunday!

*Tune into Sunday Morning by Maroon 5 :) I make it compulsory to tune into this song every Sunday morning so my days are happier.

I dont really have anything awesomely extra ultra happening in my life lately, except perhaps trying to decide if I should try a semester in the Maths and Science faculty in the Uni of Oslo after all.

See, when I applied for the Maths and Science faculty, I was sure I wouldn't get in. Mainly because that faculty asses you differently and you had to "qualify" and not just get accepted based on your IB Diploma. And lets face it, I didn't do that well on my Science papers. Just average mediocre. :)

But to my upmost surprise, I did get accepted. After I have decided that I wanted to do something within the Humanitarian (?) area.

But, I decided that based on the idea that I wouldn't get into the Maths and Science faculty. See the dilemma?

And problem as always, I still dont know what I want. But that is why I have this semester to figure out.
So, I am going to throw myself out there and try different things. But what do I try?

So, after considerable consideration. I have decided, I am going to go for it. I am going to take up the offer to do a semester at the Maths and Science faculty even though they are not really my greatest subjects, I think I am going to give it a try. :)

*Oh, and incase I change my mind later. I have already signed myself up to do a class in Buddhists-m(?) and Political and Cultural Development. But I know, in a week or two. I would be made to choose just one faculty.

Wtf right?
*Keep reminding self : Try try try. And the point of this semester is to try right? So, if I know this is too hard for me. I wouldn't have to do doing it for the next 5 years, Righttttttttttt?
*smacks self in the head.

I think I am going to go find my Kutiepoompkinpie™ later. He is always a good distraction.
*Kuuuuuuudle

Made of sheer brilliance I tell you. Go check it out!
Example from that page :

and this you have to check out too, light art proposal :)
Ridiculously adorable.

Puts Magnars and mine ...... in another planet.

Haha! I take that back. Ours was kinda awesome too for its purpose. :)
To be idiotic and entertaining.

176. Questions Answered

Picture from www.magnarfh.com

So, since there was a very lame interest in my Ask Me Anything post, I am just going to answer those questions here and try it again some other time. Pfft!

So, Questions!

First comment
Lisa, are you scary? If so, how scary?

Answer : I am always scary. Either scarily cute, scarily annoying, scarily weird or just just scary like this.

I thought I grew up from that era already. But its still rather hilarious.
Yes, I am scary like that. Scarily stupid at times.

Second comment
I wonder what happened to our chicken pets...
My sister doesn't understand the concept of this game obviously.
But, sometimes I too wonder where our pet chickens.

I remembered there was once my parents bought my sister and I some pet chickens then drove to my Grandma house in the village then we never saw our pet chickens ever again.

Weeks after that, I ate the most delicious chicken ever. What does that tell you?
Haha!

Third comment
Is there another word for synonym?
Alternative?

If the police arrest a mute, do they tell him he has the right to remain
silent?

Interesting question, I think the police have to still tell him to remain silent because there are many hummin' sounds that you can make to say words, we all already know. For example *eff uu.

If one synchronized swimmer drowns, do the rest drown too?

Riddles! I like!
Anyways, I have taken synchronized swimming too during my swimming days, and I honestly cannot for the life in me ever imagine a synchronized swimmer drown. Synchronized swimming is ridiculously hard and you usually have to be able to at least float, Plus and we were already thought to "drown/stay under". So you will not be able to tell if the other person is really actually drowning. Haha!
